In the Texas desert nearby the border of Mexico, Melquiades Estrada (Julio Cedillo), a Mexican illegal immigrant working as a cowboy, ends up being mistakenly shot and killed by tough border patrolman Mike Norton (Barry Pepper). Scared to death, Mike quickly buries the body and does not report anything. A week later, Estrada’s body is accidentally found and reburied in a local cemetery.
