Off the boat and into the party is a classical plot but sometimes it may be the other way around. Nathanial Mayweather (Chris Elliott) is a young wealthy heir who has recently graduated from the Fancy Lad Academy and is about to run his father's Hawaiian hotel. But en route to the hotel Nathanial unwittingly boards the wrong ship and ends up on a weather-beaten fishing schooner. A crew of hostile, foul-mouthed old salts refuses to carry the daddy's spoiled boy to his destination and forces him to serve as a cabin boy, doing the ship's dirty jobs.
